JM celebrates an evening of theater with encore performances of two plays performed earlier this month in the North Carolina Theatre Conference High School Play Festival regional competition at Asheboro High School. Admission is free.
“The Miraculous Journey of Edward Tulane,” a play adapted by Dwayne Hartford and based on Kate DiCamillo’s novel of the same name, is produced by the JM Film Studies class. It considers what it is to love, to lose that love and how to find the courage to love again.
There may be some cast changes for tonight’s encore, but scheduled to perform “The Miraculous Journey of Edward Tulane” in the NCTC High School Play Festival were: Felix Banks (Edward Tulane), Reyes Basurto Canseco (Traveler), Katelyn Emerson (Abeline), Kenzie Barnett (Pellegrina/Old Lady), Hunter Scott (Lawrence/Father/Neal), Saori Cortes Rodriguez (Nellie/Marlene), Ciara Dueling (Lolly/Witch), Armand Baumer (Bull/Amos/Lucius), Abigail Cockrum(Bryce/Watchman), Tanasia Raman (Sarah Ruth) and Joanna Arbaiza Blanco (Old Doll).
The production team was Kaleb Moffit and Adasofie Davis.
“The Book of Dog,” a play by Jiggs Burgess and produced by an ensemble of JM students cast in an open audition, follows a 15-year journey that changes all involved in a story of love, family and redemption.

Also in the Ensemble: Eleanor Reece, Ariana Harris, Delaney Fuquay, Daniela Casarrubias Catalan, Siniyah Utley, Joey Santiago, Sarah Preciado, Yomariz Ordonez Alonzo, Yazmin Cobos, Saori Cortes Rodriguez and Litzy Madrid Balderas.
