Musicians from the Jordan-Matthews Chorus appear as guest performers in “Light a Candle,” this year’s Fearrington Village Singers holiday concert. JM vocalists will perform two numbers with the Fearrington Village Singers: "Believe" (from the movie The Polar Express ) and "I Wish You Christmas.” They also will perform "Carol of the Bells” as the student ensemble.
We are honored in this concert to celebrate our close and inspiring partnership with Fearrington Village Singers! The community chorus featuring residents of Fearrington Village, Galloway Ridge and surrounding north Chatham communities has been a passionate supporter of JM musicians. For years, the nonprofit organization has created opportunity for many student vocalists as part of JMArts Scholars, allowing JM musicians to study over the summer, usually at weeklong, residential workshops offered on university campuses.
Fearrington Village Singers is directed by Matt Fry, who taught music for more than three decades and was choral director at Jordan-Matthews, where he twice was named Teacher of the Year. JMArts members also are part of the beloved community chorus.
“Light a Candle” has two evening performances — on Monday, December 9, and Tuesday, December 10, at The Fearrington Barn, a special-event venue in Fearrington Village between Pittsboro and Chapel Hill. General admission tickets are now available online for $17 in advance or can be purchased for $20 at the door.
